Where:
Paradise - London

Description

Fresh off the back of our sellout Paradise premier in May, RIF RAF, in cahoots with new best friends MERChttp://www.merc.com , returns to Kensal Green for the biggest date in London's party calendar - Notting Hill Carnival - to smash up the bank holiday Monday and keep the party grooving with an epic line-up stretching from Monday afternoon all the way into into the early hours of September 1st. Four top notch breaking live acts, big name DJs upstairs and down, and loads of giveaways, all in West London's classiest boozer. Featuring:

LIVE:

EMELI SANDE (http://www.myspace.com/emelisande)
Currently providing the catchy-as-hell chorus for Chipmunk's top 10 hit "Diamond Rings", Emeli's pitch-perfect nu-soul vocals are going to light up Paradise, no doubt. 1Xtra's Ras Kwame reckons that she's got "a voice reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald - a future star". The perfect way to give this year's carnival the kiss-off.

ROX (http://www.myspace.com/roxmusik)
Signed to Rough Trade, you've probably heard Rox's belting 21st Century take on classic r'n'b pop when she's filled in for Amy Winehouse, singing live on Mark Ronson's "Valerie"; performing live at Reading Festival with Wiley; or when her track "I Don't Believe" was featured on a certain lipstick ad with Sophie Ellis-Bexter. All set to be a star of 2010, it'd be foolish to miss her.

CHARLIE BROWN (http://www.myspace.com/charliebrowncan)
More lush Motown-inspired neo-grooves from RWD Magazine's One To Watch and Wiley collaborator Charlie, who recently took a starring role in Bless Beats "The Rain", a seamless r'n'b / grime mashup released on Relentless Records in June. Although new to many of us, he's been working the industry since 2003 and is primed to break it big in the very near future - see for yourself at Paradise.

IT'S A TRAP (http://www.myspace.com/itsatraptheband)
Rif Raf keeps to its indie roots by having this teenage Ipswich threesome down to open the night - and their urgent guitar hooks and melodramatic vocals (think White Lies attending a funeral with Bloc Party) should ensure that the party starts with a raucous bang. Get down early to catch them.

PLUS, ON THE 1's AND 2's:

THE RUMBLE STRIPS (http://www.myspace.com/rumblestripsuk)- Devon's finest indie trumpeteers make RIF RAF their Reading/Leeds Festival aftershow party, hitting up the decks with some of their personal faves;

DJMK (http://www.myspace.com/deejaymk) - KISS 100 Thursday night hip hop host and renowned rap deejay spins us a set;

HI TOP, AKA QUINCEY TONES (producer - Talib Kweli, Ghostface Killah) & BIG CHUCK REED - dropping nothing but Golden Age;

RIF RAF RESIDENTS SAM RIF RAF & HER MAJESTY - just about getting away with it.

Description

Welcome to Paradise By Way Of Kensal Green, a “west London institution” (Time Out). Paradise is a pub-bar of character, a restaurant of substance and a music venue of joy, even if we say so ourselves.

Paradise By Way of Kensal Green has been part of the Kensal and Notting Hill community for years. Beginning as a coach house it has been the scene of many a decadent night out.

Paradise also has a strong musical history, playing host to electric performances from The Clash to Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones.
