Stopping over between Trash City and the Roundhouse
Hooligan Night electro punk outfit is playing at the KTF gig on December 4th at the Masons Arms
Described as a “vixen-fronted Electro Punk juggernaut” and “the Yeah Yeah
Yeahs-meet-Tom Waits” Hooligan Night are currently one of the most talkedabout
acts on the London live circuit.
Formed in 2007 by apocalyptic pin-up Ruby Blues and production maestro
Nick Diezel, the formidable line-up also includes Alabama 3 keyboard player
Orlando Harrison, Soho Dolls drummer Paul Stone and guitarist Gus
Robertson.
The razor-sharp electronic edges of their hook-laden, guttersnipe Rock n Roll,
are offset by the purring vocals and playfully barbed lyrics, telling dark tales of
strange love and the sleazy side of city life.
Ruby’s towering stage-presence, honed by 5 years as an acclaimed
performer on the London underground art/neo cabaret scene, has led to
comparisons to the likes of Siouxie Sioux, Debbie Harry and Karen O, making
Hooligan Night one of the most exciting female-fronted bands to emerge from
the UK in recent memory.
The resident band at Glastonbury festival’s cult sensation Trash City, where
they headlined the main stage in 2008 & 2009, Hooligan Night are also due to
play the Camden Roundhouse in the Spring of 2010.
In the meantime you can catch up with them at the 4th Masons Arms anniversary bash. It will be a benefit party and it's being put together by the renown Kensal Town Fund (KTF) with a little help from the Source Mag. This is going to be an unmissable gig featuring bands, opera singers, performance poetry, dancers and more! And of course, the rock'n'roll thing!!
"You dirty, nasty bastards" Larry Love, Alabama 3
"Fucking amazing!" Miquita Oliver, T4
"Do you want a Valium?" Lily Allen
