It’s reassuring to know that you can trust the government with your children personal data, right? Wrong! All personal data about pupils is now up for grabs.
This includes your child’s ethnicity, gender, first language, eligibility for free meals, special needs, (SEN), pupil absence & exclusions, exams results and more…. and to top it up you will not be consulted on whether you wish to allow your child’s information to be given away and you have no power to stop it.
Information advising third parties on how to access detailed information on every child in the land from the new national Pupil Database appeared recently on the Government's website (link below). Funny enough there was a blackout about this – are they not proud of this achievement?
Access to information is supposedly restricted to groups, companies and organisations operating '“for the purpose of promoting the education or well-being of children in England”...Of course this is a very loose definition and on the Government's past form we suspect deliberately so to allow as wide a range of corporate interests to benefit.
The fact that our elected Government think it's fine that commercial interests can access confidential information about people's children, without their consent, knowledge and with no power of veto, shows how far this country has slid in terms of the on-going degradation of our basic rights to suit the corporate agenda our spineless leaders serve.

It seems that the neo-liberal agenda is in full swing under our noses….
What can be done you ask? Raise the issue with your local MP as soon as… maybe if we all raise our concerns, this will stop.
